Oi everyone!
I have been discussing with some fellow 'f2pironmanfc' members earlier, and I figured a lot of players seem to have completely forgotten about various 'hidden' post-quest rewards that are obtainable in F2P. So, I thought I would create a topic on those 'secret' rewards and list them all here. Here you go :
Gunnar's Ground : 32k free crafting XP
Once you have completed this quest, you can go back to Dororan's house (the mansion which formerly belonged to Juliet, and which is located near Varrock's Cooking Guild) for a couple of crafting works :
1° For the
first task, Dororan will ask you to engrave a ruby bracelet for his beloved wife : in order to be able to complete this task, you will need a Crafting level of 42 ; helping Dororan out with this job will net you 2,000 XP in Crafting.
2° For the
second task, you will have to engrave a dragonstone necklace : this requires a Crafting level of 72, and will net you 10,000 XP in Crafting.
3° For the
third and last task, you will be asked to engrave an onyx amulet : this requires a Crafting level of 90, and will net you 20,000 XP in Crafting.
Please note that, even though some of these jewels (i.e. dragonstone and onyx) are normally P2P content, F2P players can perfectly well engrave them nonetheless.
Myths of the White Lands : 2k Crafting XP and 20k Woodcutting XP
This quest over, you can go back to the Land of Snow and enter the icy labyrinth again to claim some XP rewards in Crafting and Woodcutting. To go back there after you have finished the quest, talk to Wizard Isidor in Wizard's Tower and ask him to teleport you to the Land of Snow. Once inside the sinuous, frozen labyrinth :
1° You can carve some obscure wall in the
second cavern to be granted 2.000 Crafting XP ; this requires a Crafting level of 30.
2° In the
seventh cavern, you can also chop some roots down to be granted 20,000 XP in Woodcutting ; this requires a Woodcutting level of 80.
Gower Quest : still more XP, and brand new pets!
There are also some pretty cool rewards to be claimed as soon as you are done with this newly-released quest.
1° XP lamps : once you have defeated the Black Knight Titan for good, you can talk to each of the three Gower brothers to receive an XP lamp.
- Ian's lamp will grant you 250 XP in a free skill of your choice. In order to claim this lamp, you must have reached at least level 10 in all free skills.
- Paul's lamp will grant you 1,500 XP in a free skill of your choice. In order to claim it, you must have reached at least level 30 in all free skills.
- Andrew's lamp will grant you 12,000 XP in a free skill of your choice. In order to claim it, you must have reached at least level 50 in all free skills.
2° Pets : there are three pets you can obtain as rewards from this quest.
- The first pet, Crispy the Cabbage, decides to accompany you as you are making your way through the quest itself.
- As for the two other pets : once you have fully completed the quest, you can speak with Tim and Crunchy in the hall, Behind the Scenes, and ask them to travel the world with you. They will accept to join you, and pet-versions of Tim and Crunchy will appear in your pet interface. To go back to Behind the Scenes after you have finished the quest, use the Disc of Returning inside a bank, and it will instantly teleport you to that alter world. If you happen to have lost the Disc of Returning the Gower brothers gave you, you can get another one from a crate inside the Gower farm (located east of Varrock's loadstone).
The Death of Chivalry : cosmetic overrides
Once you are through with this quest, you can take on the fight against Dawn (the final boss) again, and be rewarded with cosmectic overrides of Captain Dulcin's armour if you defeat her a second time. To go back to the Black Knight's Fortress, simply use the Skull of Remembrance to teleport inside. If you happen to have lost or discarded your Skull of Remembrance, you will need to wear Captain Dulcin's armour in order to infiltrate the fortress again.
*****
That's all I can think of for the main post-quest rewards. That being said, I also wanted to cover the topic of
miniquests, namely, the very short quests which are not listed in the 'Quests' interface, and which may be unknown to some newer players.
Witch's Potion :This was originally a genuine quest in the first days of RuneScape, but it was eventually demoted as a
miniquest, due to its extremely basic and straightforward nature. To start this miniquest, talk to Hetty the Witch in Rimmington. She will ask you to assist her in gathering a few ingredients in order to make some magical potion of sorts. Completing this miniquest will net you 325 XP in Magic.
Sheep Shearer :This one was also formerly a full-on quest when RuneScape emerged, and was likewise removed from the official quests list. To begin this miniquest, talk to Fred the Farmer in his farm, located north of Lumbridge's castle. He will simply ask you to shear twenty of his sheep and make twenty balls of wool out of the gathered materials. Completing this miniquest will net you 150 XP in Crafting.
Note that, due to the (very) low amount of XP you receive as a reward, you will be better off doing these miniquests as soon as possible...Swept Away's sequel : the Purple Cat miniquestWhile you cannot, as a F2P player, claim the reward (that is, the purple cat) from this miniquest, you can still
complete the quest in F2P. To start off, talk to Wendy (Maggie's assistant) in Draynor Village once you are through with the 'Swept Away' quest. Wendy will send you back to Betty's rune shop in Port Sarim, where you will have to solve a puzzle similar to the one you solved during 'Swept Away'. Once again, indeed, you will be required to place the proper animal inside the proper pen... but, as you will promptly notice, the second version of this puzzle is slightly more tricky than the former.
Well, I think I have covered all the small little secrets from all F2P quests. I hope this topic will prove helpful for you, guys. Please let me know if I forgot anything in my list...
Have fun questing!
